Water Damage Restoration

WATER DAMAGE RESTORATION IN COSTA MESA

Water damage typically occurs suddenly and without warning, so our certified water damage restoration technicians are ready when you need us, around-the-clock. We have a variety of state of the art water extraction, air movement, dehumidification, and containment equipment, to dry out your structure as quickly as possible.

Professional moisture detection equipment will be used to evaluate and document the psychometric conditions (temperature, relative humidity, and dew point) inside and outside the building and the moisture content of materials in affected areas. If at all possible, we aim to “dry in place” and we only remove materials when necessary. In other words, we will only cut into your ceiling, walls, cabinetry, or flooring if it is reasonable and justifiable by the recommendations set forth in the Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration, otherwise known in the industry as the “S500”.

Restoration and insurance professionals alike place water damage claims into one of three categories. Our initial assessment of the category of water will determine the procedures necessary to restore your property to pre-existing or “pre-loss” conditions.

    CATEGORIES OF WATER DAMAGE

    1. Clean Water

Originates from a sanitary water source and does not pose substantial risk from contact with skin, ingestion, or inhalation exposure. However, once clean water leaves the source, it might not remain clean after it contacts other surfaces or materials. The cleanliness of Category 1 water may deteriorate to Category 2 or 3 for many reasons, including but not limited to: contact with building materials, systems or contents; mixing with soils and other contaminants. Odor can indicate that Category 1 has deteriorated.

    2. Gray Water

Contains significant contamination and has the potential to cause discomfort or sickness if contacted or consumed by humans. Examples can include, but are not limited to: discharge from dishwashers or washing machines, overflows from washing machines, overflows from toilet bowls on the room side of the trap with some urine but no feces, broken aquariums, and punctured water beds. The cleanliness of Category 2 water can deteriorate for many reasons, including but not limited to: contact with building materials, systems, and contents; mixing with soils and other contaminants.

    3. Black Water

Grossly unsanitary and can contain pathogenic, toxigenic, or other harmful agents. Examples can include, but are not limited to: sewage, toilet back flows that originate from beyond the toilet trap (regardless of visible content or color), all forms of flooding from seawater, ground surface water and rising water from rivers and streams, and other contaminated water entering or affecting the indoor environment, such as wind-driven rain from hurricanes, tropical storms, or other water related events.

    Mold Or Mildew

If you notice mold or mildew growing in your home, it could signify a hidden water leak. This can be accompanied by a musty smell that also grows stronger over time.

    Cracks In Foundation

What Happens If Water Damage Goes Untreated?

Like all necessary repairs, Costa Mesa water damage left unaddressed can cause problems with your structural integrity, leading to more significant repairs. Here are a few consequences that result from untreated Costa Mesa water damage:

Mold – After your structure is exposed to a water leak, mold can start to grow in the affected area within five days. Mold spores can infect almost any surface, regardless of their composition. The more time these newly produced fungi spend on your property, the more damage they cause, so it’s vital to get rid of them as soon as possible.

If your home is suffering from water damage, our certified Costa Mesa water damage experts are trained and equipped to perform efficient water damage restoration.

Compromised structural integrity – Water damage can compromise your home or business’s structure. Naturally, the materials used to build your property were not designed to withstand prolonged water exposure. Extended exposure to water will weaken your structure and decompose over time.

If you suspect your property might be suffering from Costa Mesa water damage, contact our water damage repair company immediately. We provide extensive and prompt water damage restoration in Costa Mesa to minimize structural damage.

Rust and corrosion – Untreated water damage can lead to rust and corrosion, damaging your belongings and deteriorating their quality. Corrosion leads to equipment failure, the waste of valuable resources, a decline in efficiency, and costly maintenance.

Pest infestation – Untreated water damage can attract pests. Since cockroaches, silverfish, carpenter ants, and beetles enjoy damp environments, water damage can attract them to your home. Additionally, rodents may enter your home in search of water. After water damage, earwigs and moths may be found inside the house. Drain flies enjoy moist environments, leaving wet messes wherever they go.

Insects can enter through cracks and fissures in windows cracked by water damage or flooding, even if you don’t see them. If this occurs, immediate Costa Mesa restoration must be done to prevent further damage.

Early detection and prompt response are vital to minimizing Costa Mesa water damage. Tweedy Plumbing & Restoration provides comprehensive Costa Mesa restoration services to ensure your property is safe from the effects of water damage.

Should I Run A Dehumidifier After A Water Leak?

After a water leak, it’s critical to dry up the affected area as quickly as possible to prevent mold growth and minimize Costa Mesa water damage. While waiting for your Costa Mesa restoration company, one way to reduce water damage is to run a dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers work by removing moisture from the air, which helps dry the area and prevent mold from developing.

Dehumidifiers also help to prevent rust and corrosion. If you have metal objects in the affected area, running a dehumidifier can help to prevent them from rusting. Additionally, dehumidifiers also aid in the reduction of dust levels in the air, which is beneficial if you have allergies or asthma.

Our Costa Mesa restoration team utilizes the most advanced water extraction and containment technology at Costa Mesa Restoration to provide superior water damage repair services.

How Long Does Water Damage Restoration Take?

The time it takes to restore water damage is primarily determined by the severity of the damage. If the damage is minimal, the repair may take a few days. However, if the damage is more extensive, it may take weeks to restore the area thoroughly.

For inquiries on Costa Mesa restoration, don’t hesitate to contact our water damage repair team. The sooner we start the restoration process, the less damage and repairs are needed.

What Causes Water Damage In A Home?

There are various water damage causes, with some in plain sight and some concealed, requiring leak detection experts’ assistance. Here are a few of the most common reasons of water damage in a home:
